Valdosta Utilities Department is accepting applications for the
position of full time Utility Maintenance Technician. This
position’s duties include: performing technical duties in the
maintenance and repair of a water or wastewater treatment plant.
Assisting in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment;
performs preventative and corrective maintenance. Assisting in the
preparation and maintenance of maintenance records. Assisting in
the modification and installation of equipment and parts.
Monitoring plant observations and reports malfunctioning equipment
to supervisor. Operates a filter press. Operating a front-end
loader and other equipment as needed. Cuts grass and maintains
plant grounds. Assists in the rebuilding of system books. Cleans
and maintains plant tanks. Requirements: Knowledge of treatment
plant processes and procedures, city and department policies and
procedures, work safety principles and practices, data acquisition
and records preparation principles Skills in the operation and
maintenance of job-related tools and equipment, inspection of plant
processes and the recording of related data, operation of assigned
vehicles, oral and written communication At least one (1) to two
(2) years’ experience in a related field Possession of a valid
driver’s license High school diploma or GED Must satisfactorily
complete a background check, drug test and pre-employment
physical
