Qualifications This position has a Basic Licensure Requirement: Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as practical or vocational nurses in a State or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia or must have applied for a license to practice. In addition to the Basic Licensure Requirement your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Observing patients for side effects and reactions to medications administered; - Recognizing and reporting abnormalities to physician and initiating appropriate measures in emergency or life threatening situations; - Preparing patients for tests, examinations, treatments, and/or surgery; - Performing a range of diagnostic support duties that includes drawing blood, collecting and labeling laboratory specimens, and, collecting urine samples to provide quality health care services; and - Performing a range of treatment procedures that include sterile dressing changes, monitoring IV fluids, inserting catheters and administering treatment that requires auxiliary equipment such as oxygen and suction to provide quality health care services.
