Description Have you heard? Georgia-Pacific opened a new state-of-the art lumber mill in Albany, Georgia in May 2020! It is expected that this location will receive produce approximately 350 million board-feet of lumber a year with plans to expand beyond that in the future! This is an exciting opportunity to work in a technologically advanced plant. We are recruiting for an Electrical Technician. This highly skilled position will support our operations efficiency through troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment and processes. In our culture, employees can thrive and encouraged to create the greatest value for themselves, the organization, our customers, and society.Technicians work in an industrial environment that is hot, humid and noisy and work around dust grease, oil and other chemical substances. This role operates on eight to twelve-hour shifts that include weekends, holidays, overtime and rotating shifts.Operators will perform tasks such as lifting, up to 50 lbs., walking, climbing, pushing, twisting and stooping for up to twelve (12) hours a day to perform the responsibilities of this role.What You Will Do In Your RoleAdhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety programFollowing all good manufacturing practices (GMPs) guidelines for production of corrugated paper productsPerforming various reactive and preventative maintenance tasks on production equipmentUses experience to identify and implement improvementsWorking with automation, production, and computer systemsResearching parts in electrical/mechanical manuals and submitting order formsTroubleshooting, repairing and maintaining all electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure production continuity and efficiencyResponding to operator, quality and/or supervisor requests on equipment specificationsAssisting operators or crew members with machine start-up, shutdown or clean upCommunicating daily work performed and machine conditions via written and verbal documentationThe Experience You Will BringRequirements:High School Diploma or GEDOne of the following:Associates degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Systems, Instrumentation, or Electronic Technology AND at least two (2) years of electrical/electronic and/or instrument & control troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environmentA minimum of four (4) years of electrical/electronic or instrument & control troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with industrial controls PLCs, motor controls, control valves, and electrical distributionExperience with industrial instrumentation for flow, pressure, and temperatureExperience reading and following electrical and mechanical schematics / blueprintsWhat Will Put You AheadBachelor's degree or higher in Electrical or Industrial EngineeringExperience in repairing, troubleshooting, and programming PLCs, HMIs, and operator interfacesMechanical maintenance experience, including fluid handling and conveyor systems, hydraulic systems and accumulators, and valve identification and application and weldingExperience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCsExperience programming variable frequency drives (VFDs)Distributed Control (DC) experienceExperience with a Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS)Salary and Benefits Commensurate with Experience.Equal Opportunity Employer.Except where prohibited by state law, all offers of employment are conditioned upon successfully passing a drug test.This employer uses E-Verify.
