I. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES
A. Understands basic animal food safety and personal hygiene as
relates to the protection of animal food as a "Qualified
B. Operates Batching, Pelleting, Grinding, and Receiving modules
of the Beta Raven computer system.
C. Follows written housekeeping procedures and maintains the
control room in an orderly fashion.
D. Ensures the micro-bins are kept orderly, labels intact,
readable, and lids secured, when not pouring ingredients.
E. Ensures that only one ingredient at any one time is added to
the correct labeled micro-bin.
F. Understands and works to prevent cross-contamination of
G. Must have read, understand, and follow the written Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to the position.
H. Completes paperwork and/or forms required by federal or state
regulations, standard operating procedures, supervisors, or
I. Takes shift inventory of raw materials and finished feeds.
Submits this inventory to the Feed Mill Supervisor.
J. Completes daily/shift production reports and tallies
production numbers for the respective shift. Provides all reports
K. Communicates continuously throughout the shift with the
Delivery Supervisor in order to ensure feed manufacturing is
L. Generates special feed orders as directed by the Delivery
M. Verifies all feed formulas prior to batching feed. Notifies
supervisor when formulas are not current.
N. Maintains the formula book located in the control room with
only active formulas. Notifies supervisor when the formula book is
O. Constantly monitors the Beta Raven system, computer
processes, bin selection, and capacity while grinding ingredients
and batching or pelleting feed.
P. Operates feed mill equipment in manual in the event auto
fails to initiate and notifies Supervisor immediately. Tracks and
records all operations while in manual mode.
Q. Maintains production of pelleted feed at appropriate degrees
Fahrenheit established by current procedures.
R. Maintains pellet mills at maximum production established by
the Feed Mill Manager.
S. Notifies supervisor when grinding, batching, or pelleting do
not run at optimum levels.
T. Cleans and inspects pellet mills as needed.
U. Keeps pellet mill floor in an orderly fashion and notifies
Supervisor when additional assistance is needed.
V. Must be able and willing to understand and comply with
Lock-out Tag-out procedures through training and continuous
W. Performs diagnostics and maintenance on Beta Raven computer
system with telephone assistance.
X. Reports any equipment malfunction to Feed Mill Supervisor and
assists with minor maintenance on the Feed Mill, including
Y. Reports any error in mixing of feeds or ingredients in wrong
bins to Feed Mill Supervisor.
Z. Notifies supervisor when a suspected Quality or Food Safety
event has occurred.
AA. Promotes and upholds the Quality Assurance Mission
BB. Performs other duties as assigned.
II. POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A. Must meet the basic qualifications for new employees.
B. Employees must also meet the following qualifications:
1) Must be a "Qualified Individual" as defined in the Food
Safety Modernization Act or receive equivalent training.
2) Must be proficient in computer skills.
3) Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some college or
prior experience preferred.
4) Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to conform
to the Sanderson Farms MVR Policy.
5) Must be able to follow detailed processes and have good
6) Must be able to climb a 125 ft. ladder and work at heights of
at least 40 ft. above a structure.
7) Must be adaptive to night work on a rotating shift basis.

C. Employees must understand different types of ingredients used
in producing animal food.
1) Ascertains poor quality ingredients versus good quality
2) Performs simple analysis to check for moisture, pellet
durability, temperature, and other tests as required.
3) Verifies each ingredient prior to adding to micro bin, tote
bin, or hand add area.
4) Prepares and annotates pertinent information on samples for
shipment, as required.
