The Capacity Building Grant Officer is responsible for managing the relationship with their assigned affiliates. This position will work closely with assigned affiliates to ensure their success in the Section 4 federally funded program. This position will act as a key resource, providing knowledge and guidance to the affiliates in receiving funding and reporting, and also responsible for compliance in accordance to the grant agreement and federal regulations. The position is responsible for processing grant expenditures in accordance with the executed sub-grant agreements, and also responsible for monitoring and evaluating the work performance of the assigned affiliates against their application commitments.

This position will be based at our operational headquarters located in Americus, GA and requires up to 20% travel within the US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process affiliate monthly disbursement requests to ensure funding eligibility & proper backup documentation required.
  • Review electronic quarterly workplans and other electronic reports and files to maintain accurate and most recent data in custom designed WebGrants database for CB grant participants.
  • Review potential grantee applications and proposals for funding recommendation.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal & written) with affiliates, field staff & initiative budget/project managers. Assist in updating departmental manuals for both internal and external use.
  • Monitor affiliate compliance with specified program workplans, benchmarks & requirements (Federal/HUD & HFHI) through evaluation, submission and receipt of electronic quarterly workplans.
  • Ensure that compliance with grant and federal regulations as well as reporting requirements are met.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • 3 years working with federal grants
  • Experience with grants management and federal regulations
  • Critical analytical skills, especially in situations where the issues are not fully defined
  • Project management skills
  • Customer service skills in providing support to a variety of organizations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills using a variety of mediums (online, via phone, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
