- Competitive pay Job Description The Distribution Center General
Manager contributes to Mattress Firm's success by efficiently
managing the day-to-day operations of their assigned distribution
center.
- Responsible for efficient day-to-day operations of the DC
- Responsible for meeting overall financial objectives of the
distribution center (DC) compared to budget
- Leads and develops the distribution center team
- Ensures standardized operations in accordance with safety
policies and procedures
- Trains team members in understanding DC financial and
operational goals
- Creates and fosters an environment of trust, open two-way
communication, and cohesive team effort
- Provides strategic vision and communicates organizational
mission and values to the team
- Educates team members and contract employees on customer
satisfaction measures and holds them accountable to results
- Holds monthly DC-wide meetings to communicate organization/DC
wins and opportunities and speak to any questions or concerns
- Holds one-on-one meetings with direct reports at least twice a
month
- Ensures the DC meets company standards on appearance,
cleanliness, and functionality
- Identifies opportunities and drives continuous improvement
initiatives in the DC
- Develops, implements, reviews, and enforces operational
processes, policies and procedures
- Collaborates with sales partners to ensure delivery of
exceptional customer service
- Facilitates resolution of customer service issues
- Manages the DC schedule
- Prepares reports on DC financials, KPIs, business reviews and
other metrics as required by deadlines given
- Conducts required physical cycle counts; reviews discrepancies
and makes appropriate corrections
- Provides safety and other training and periodic retraining to
all team members and contract employees in the DC
- Recruits, interviews, and participates in hiring process for
